The infrastructure works of Gümüşhane-Bayburt Airport, which is under construction in the Köse district of GÜMÜŞHANE, reached to the level of 67 percent. With the completion of the infrastructure and superstructure works at the airport, the first flights are planned to be made in 2023. The airport, which is expected to have a runway length of 3 kilometers and a width of 60 meters, and serve 2 million passengers; It will be an alternative for aircraft that cannot land due to weather conditions, especially on the coastline.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, during his visit to the region 3 years ago, announced that an airport with an annual capacity of 2 million passengers will be built in Salyazı location between Gümüşhane and Bayburt. After President Erdoğan's statement the project was prepared by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and the foundation of Gümüşhane-Bayburt Airport was laid by the Prime Minister at the time Binali Yıldırım on 13 June.
